Is it just me?
The other day, right before starting work our kids got into an argument. One had stolen a magna-tile that the other had stolen first… because the other child had claimed all the magna-tiles were theirs! In the stress of needing to get to work it was difficult to know what to do. How do I make peace? And how do I help my kids actually learn to handle life differently?
Many parents want to raise their kids with good values but don’t have the time to figure it out. So often parents end up stuck reacting to their kids, rather than following an intentional plan. No parent should have to do it alone!
Our hope for the Parenting Weekender is to help busy parents, who are trying to raise their kids, by providing encouragement and wisdom from God’s Word. When we understand what the Bible says about how to raise kids, we can get unstuck and help our kids thrive.
By the end we hope that you can navigate the magna-tile conflicts, tantrums and arguments with wisdom so that your kids can choose to do what’s right from the heart.
What to expect
Over the course of two days we’ll cover 4 different topics:
1: Clearing up Confusion
We’ll start by using the Bible to clear up some common confusions to approach parenting from the right perspective.
2: A Biblical Framework for Parenting
Learn an acronym to help you get a handle on the basic strategies for parenting.
3: Parenting in a Church Community
You don’t have to raise your kids alone! At Beacon, we want parents to support one another on this journey.
4: Q&A with Experienced Parents
Hear from Josh and Erika De La Rosa, experienced parents who have helped their kids towards adulthood.
You’ll walk away with a book on parenting and some practical guides to help you take the right next step in your parenting journey.
