People don’t know how good God is. This is a special offering, above our regular giving, to help people “taste and see that the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).

Salt & Light Offering

November 23 - December 31, 2025

There are so many people who have an inaccurate understanding of who God is. But the God who is there, is a gracious, kind and generous God. What if we could use our generosity to give people get an accurate picture of just how good and loving God really is?

Our Goal: $15,000

100% of those who call Beacon Church home would give beyond their regular giving in order to support three initiatives: City Flourishing, Gospel Partnerships and Beacon Church.

Initiative 1: City Flourishing

Partner: Mangini Ranch Elementary

Our hope is to not just be a church that rents a facility, but a group of people who bless and seek the flourishing of our host school. We think that these gifts will not only help with practical needs, but also open up opportunities to deepen our relationship with Mangini.

Garden Club: this is a new club that Principal Peterson has been trying to start. Our gifts will provide supplies and resources to help this be a great experience for kids at the school.

Office Needs: practical needs to bless the front-office staff, including a new printer.

Gifts for the staff: bless the staff of the school to encourage and thank them in their service.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

Initiative 2: Gospel Partners

Partner: Challenge Reno (Campus Ministry)

In the fall of 2025 Matt and Ellie Bustamante began a new Campus Ministry called Challenge Reno at the University of Nevada Reno. We want to support them, because they prioritize sharing the gospel with college students. After only a few months, they have already seen several people commit their lives to Christ!

College is a highly strategic time for people to become Christians and grow in their faith. But Matt and Ellie need resources from partners to be able to do this ministry.

Support for Matt and Ellie: Their salary is entirely based on financial support that they raise. Our gifts will help provide for them and their needs.

Support for Ministry Efforts: Our generosity will also help them execute outreach events.

“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” Philippians 1:3-5

Initiative 3: Beacon Church

Goal: Enhance our Sunday Services

As a new church we are still getting established. God has provided so generously for us but we’d like to help enhance our Sunday Morning Services to help eliminate distractions for people to hear from God, and learn about how good he truly is. We would use these resources to go to things like…*

Pipe and Drape (Curtains): Because we meet in a gym, we’d like to make the space more intimate for our gathering. This will allow us to eliminate distractions and help focus everyone in attendance on God’s Word and worshipping him.

Lighting: Moving from fluorescent, government-building lighting to a more ambient space will also help people feel comfortable and stay focused on what matters most. This will also help us with other future enhancements like getting our services on video so we can use them on YouTube and social media.

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”

Psalm 95:1-2

*The exact choice of what we use the resources for our church will depend on how much money comes in through the offering.

We hope you’ll consider giving so that we can help support these important initiatives! It is exciting to see what God will do!

Questions about the Salt and Light Offering

  • The end of the year is a normal time where people give to different causes. It also gives us a chance to be generous as a church, beyond what we normally can do, to make a difference in some very needed and practical ways.

  • We desire to be a generous church that blesses others. This is a great chance to do this!

    City Flourishing: We want to be a church that seeks the welfare of the city we are in (Jer 29:7). We are starting as close to home as we can by seeking the welfare of the school we meet in, Mangini Ranch Elementary.

    Gospel Partnerships: We also want to support ministries and churches that are actively sharing the gospel with others. UNR Challenge is a new ministry focused on evangelism and is someone who is local (2hrs away), that we also know and trust.

    Beacon Church: As a new church, we have some practical needs that will help us to be more effective right where we are.

  • Our normal church budget (General Fund) helps us provide for our standard needs as a church, so if you give then please continue to give to the general fund. This is a special offering, where we have the opportunity to give above and beyond our normal giving to support this cause.

  • No, we have set up the Salt and Light Offering to be a designated offering going to all of these things.
